Building Ground Area:10546 m2
Located in the very central old urban context of Zürich, the project opens up the whole ground floor of several adjacent residencial blocks. Becoming this great design oppotunity, I try to explore a way to renew and to gentrificate a seemingly stable historical central area, and also give suggestions to generate a universal method for further reurbanishments.
Urban governments are interested in innovation. We claim this comes about by altering the built environment to allow for exchange and flexibility. A precedent for this is the office building layout (comparing 1950s office layout with contemporary innovative company spaces). The scheme experiments with allocating the groundfloor of a superblock for experimental / affordable space for creative entrepreneurs and flexible low-rent space for co-working / start-ups / small companies and traders.
